Summer Camp in Croatia
In August, Eagle Scout James G. worked as staff/lifeguard at Camp Avantura summer
camp in northern Croatia. This camp is based on the beautiful Adriatic Coast and is very
much a water activities-based camp.
As with Camp Avantura, there are programmes both for Scouts wanting to focus on rank
advancement up to first class and scouts wanting to focus on merit badges. The camp offers
a lot of water-based merit badges that aren’t always easy to arrange from London including
kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, small boat sailing and motor boating.
One difference from Camp Alpine is that Camp Avantura offers canteen dining with a
beautiful dining hall overlooking the Adriatic Coast. Scouts also get the opportunity to have
a day off for activities. James helped Scouts navigate a motorboat across to Trieste in Italy
during his day off!
