Night Hike near Henley-on-Thames

Troop 401’s annual night took place in early February 2023. Scouts met up at Paddington

Station and took the train to Henley-on-Thames. After planning their route, Scouts then

hiked in Patrols to the Rising Sun Pub in Hurley, a distance of just under 10 kilometres. Here

Scouts joined up with parents and adult leaders for a well-deserved dinner.

Following dinner, Scouts hiked to Marlow train station along the Thames Patch for the

return journey to Paddington.

The night hike is always one of the highlights of the year and hugely popular with Scouts.

Reading maps and planning the route is a completely different experience in the dark where

hikers are not able to rely on seeing the path ahead and to plan by sighting reference points

as in the daytime.
