Merit Badge University

After a few years of the Mayflower District being unable to host its annual Merit Badge

University due to the pandemic, the event was able to return in January 2023 and for the

first time was hosted by Troop 401 at ASL.

This was a wonderful opportunity for Scouts to work on a wide range of merit badges

including with Scouts from other Troops within the Mayflower District. A number of merit

badge counselors came from other Troops giving Scouts an opportunity to work on badges

for which Troop 401 doesn’t currently have a counselor. Along with many Eagle required

badges being taught, sessions were also held for subjects such as Chemistry, Geology,

American Heritage, Pulp and Paper and Oceanography.

The council also hosted a pop-up Scout Shop for attendees
