Backpacking Campout near Chesham
In April, Troop 401 held a backpacking campout at Braid Wood Scout Camp near Chesham in
the beautiful Chiltern Hills. This gave Scouts an opportunity to practice the skills needed to
camp while on the move and to get used to packing a rucksack for a backpacking trip. It also
gave Scouts a chance to develop their cooking skills using a lightweight stove.
Scouts took the tube to Chesham Station and then had to hike nearly 5 miles to the campsite carrying all their kit. Scouts very much enjoyed the weekend and the opportunity to learn new skills.
